Culture is described " as a set of values, practices, traditions or philosophy a group shares, whether due to age, race or ethnicity, religion or gender” (Mayhew, 2014). Variety is " the add-on of individuals addressing more than one national origin, color, religion, socioeconomic stratum, sexual orientation” (2014). Diversity in the workplace refers to the variety of differences between people in an organization. It may include sexuality, age, character, background, competition, ethnic group, and much more. It doesn't just include how persons see themselves but that they see other folks as well which affect how they act in a work environment. A few of the issues businesses have to deal with will be communication, adaptability and change. Enjoying diversity and accepting and appreciating the differences means person strengths and weaknesses can be understood and factored into building workplace teams. Recognizing and appreciating cultural differences is merely the tip of the iceberg. Subordinate group behaviour that have developed over time may cause them to always be defensive. You ought to work towards linking the gap between major and subordinate groups to help them to communicate better. Managers and leaders need to step out of their comfort levels and develop knowledge of ethnical differences and become sensitive that there are range issues. In case you establish associations at work with individuals who vary than you, you start to learn about the skill and reassurance that diverse lifestyle can add on your company.
